Using Microsoft Direct Push with Pocket PC01 Jul
I have been using Pocket PC for a long time and I use HTC TyTN II right now. I have been using the Push technology for getting my emails pushed to my pocket pc so that I can be aware of the emails as soon as it is on my mail server.
How does Microsoft Direct Push Technology works?
Microsoft push technology was introduced with Windows Mobile 5. If you are using Microsoft push then you are always connected to the exchange server and all the changes are synchronized as soon as a change takes place. When ever you receive an email, instantly you get it on you mobile.
The service is similar to the Blackberry and is very useful. You can even opt for downloading just the headers or the full email with attachments. You can reply to the email from your pocket pc. Other programs like the Calendar, Contacts, Tasks are also synchronized. If you add a task from your pocket PC and you have configured your laptop Microsoft outlook with the exchange server then when you login using your laptop, you will find the task synchronized.
How costly is this service?
Its free, just go to Mail2web and sign-up for a free account, but it has some limitation like the space and online web access. I was using the free account for more than a year, but now I have upgraded, just around US$ 15 a month, but its worth for me. I get all my emails pushed like from Gmail, my office emails and I can reply to all the emails instantly.
If you have any queries related to configuration of the device, please post a comment, I can reply to it as I have been using this for the past 2 years
