Supreme Court of Maldives23 Sep
A Supreme court was established by the President of Maldives on the 19th September 2008 which is a historical event in Maldives. The President also has appointed Ahmed Faiz Hussain, Abdulla Saeed, Ibrahim Areef, Mujthaz Fahumy and Yoosuf Hussain as the five judges of the Supreme Court. He has also presented these judges their letters of appointment.
Uz. Abdulla Saeed, of Alivaage in Seenu atoll Meedhoo, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the interim Supreme Court created under the new Constitution. It was also decided to run the Supreme Court from Muleeaage. Supreme Court would be temporarily run from Muleeaage, the building formerly used as the presidential residence, and that work would begin on Sunday.
