Today we went to Cyprea Marine Food for some official work. We started from Jetty No 1 in Male’ where a speed launch was waiting for us. You can see the picture of the speed launch, Marine Taxi II.

We started at 7:15am and reached there in just about 15 minutes. This is my second visit to this Island named Himafushi which is in Kaafu atoll in Maldives. I had come here about 3 years back for a picnic with my office staff. This island is a small one with some fish processing units. Three new fish processing units are coming up here.

Cyprea Marine food is a private limited company exporting fresh chilled fished including yellow finned Tuna and reef fish. They export to mainly European countries. They have about 125 staff workers at the unit, where they procure fresh fish and process, pack and export it to their customers. The demand of this processed fish is very high in the Market and exporting of fish is one the major income for Maldives besides tourism.

We were taken around the processing unit and I could see that they were maintaining high quality control standards and Hygiene
