Google Adsense New Improved Custom Search for better earnings
July 2, 2008
Google Adsense has an option for earning from the search results other than banners and text links. I am not sure how many of us use it and what is the potential of earning from the Google Adsense search. To be frank, I was using this only on one of my blog and I did not get much revenue from this. Today I received an email from Google Adsense support team encouraging the use of the Search feature.
There are many new features that they have added and I feel that everybody should try this.
Google Pagerank Update is on
April 30, 2008
I saw some threads on Google pagerank update, but could not find any change on any of my websites. I found a thread on DP on this. Its sure that the pagerank update is on. I used the pagerank checking tool for checking my websites and my money making blog just 2 months old has got PR 2 from PR 0, that’s good and I have seen some changes in the search engine ranking for this blog.
Other important thing I have noticed this Johnchow who had lost his PR in the last update has gone from PR 3 to PR 4, I don’t think he has stopped paid links or paid reviews.
How to use Feedburner to burn your feeds?
April 13, 2008
If you have a blog, you should be knowing about feeds and RSS. In Wordpress, the Default URL for your blog will be http://yoursite.com/feed/. I Wordpress, you can get feeds for your comments, categories, tags separately.
Now let me talk about Feedburner. Feedburner is a free service to burn your feeds. All you need is sign-up for a free account, you can now use your Google Account to sign-in, (Google has acquired Feedburner). Once you sign-in, just enter your feed URL to the box as seen below
You can either enter you blog URL or if you know the Feed URL , you can enter the feed URL.
Thats it your Feed is ready, you can now use the Feedburner URL like http://feeds.feedburner.com/Asokans
You can burn multiple blog feeds and the service is 100% free. There are lots of options available like monetizing your feeds using Google Adsense, Email Subscriptions, Statistics of your blog feed and some widgets.
Why do we need to use Feedburner for this?
That’s something you will understand when you go through the Publicize tab of the Feed. I will be coming up with more features of Feedburner soon. Stay tuned in or Subscribe to my Blog by email for free
Is a Pagerank Update On? Feb 2008
February 27, 2008
I have noticed some changes in the Google pagerank on some of my web pages nothing much on the main website. Has anybody noticed this? The last pagerank update was just about a month before. Has Google started updating the toolbar on a monthly basis? May be this is some minor updates. I have not read much about this other than the seochat forum
Do you happen to notice anything like this?
SEO For Wordpress
February 22, 2008
Wordpress is the most popular and widely used CMS for blogging. Wordpress is free and anyone can use it who has server which can run PHP and MySQL. Its very easy to install and most of the servers with Fantastico can install it a few clicks. There are tons of free Templates and plugins available and if you have some knowledge in php coding you can customize the installation too. I have been using Wordpress for more than 3 years now and I really love it. Creating new posts are very easy. You can even do posts with Microsoft word 2007. You can use the Windows live writer to post blogs on Wordpress which is a very efficient tool.
rel=nofollow tag explained
January 1, 2008
You might have experienced the job of spammers, commenting with links to their sites if you have a blog or any user interactive website. Google spider (GoogleBot) crawls from one link to other. Suppose you do a post and have users commenting to your post, you will find that you get lots of comments which are really not relevant, but just to create links to some spam websites. Google gives some credit to such links and improves the position in search result ranking. This really spoils Google’s Search results with spammy sites. To avoid this Google introduces this tag rel=nofollow in Jan-2005.
Guruji - The Indian Search Engine
December 13, 2007
Few months back I was going through the Indian search engine Guruji, and tried to submit one of my site, an Online Encyclopedia. When I clicked on the submit site button, I got a form which clearly explains that they are only accepting Indian sites and mine was a clear Indian site with .in
After submission I got an email from Guruji
We are sorry to inform you that our algorithm could not accept your site submission for – http://www.freepedia.in
This may have happened due to our algorithm detecting one or more of the following about your website –
The website is non Indian (At this point of time we are restricting ourselves to Indian websites)
The website is a spam
During the crawl the website could not be accessed by our crawler
However, if you feel that your website should not qualify under any of the above conditions, write to us at support@guruji.com with the subject line as “Website Exclusion” and we will look into the matter.
You can use Guruji.com – the Indian Search Engine - to search for anything related to India including your favorite restaurants, theaters, hotels, dentists and more, in more than 20 cities across India.
Keep exploring India on Guruji.com
Have a great day.
Team Guruji
Guruji
I was bit upset as they could not detect my site as an Indian site. I sent them a reply as follow
I do not feel the mentioned reasons are valid as this is a Indian site http://freepedia.in and not a spam. Its a true encyclopedia website by the Indians for the Indians
Thanks and best regards

A few days later I got an email from them stating that my site has been included. Guruji is still at an inception stage. The site is developed by a team of IIT students from India. May be they will prove to a future Larry Page or Sergy Bin. They are doing great and recently I was searching for my sites at Guruji and found most of my pages indexed.
Wishing them all the best for the future and we should be proud of this.
