Today morning we went for a picnic to Boduhuraa, an Island In the Maldives which is Kaafu Atoll. Its about 1 hour from Male’ if you are travelling in a Dhoni and about 35 minutes in speed launch.

The sea was very rough and it was raining, not a good climate for a picnic, but as pre planned, we went ahead.

Dr Pradeep and me went to Kanuhura Resort, which is adjacent to this island. The name of the island where Four Seasons Resort is called Kudahuraa. Four Seasons has two resorts in Maldives, Kudahuraa and Laanda Giravaaru

I upgraded this blog to wordpress 2.5, even though its a production site. I am doing this post after the upgrade. You can find lots of new features and better users interface in the admin panel

Some interesting features I noticed

Automatic Plugin Upgrade

Now you do not need to download the new version and upload through ftp and then work according to the author’s upgrade note. You will get a message that a newer version is available as shown in the image below and you have two option, either do it manually as you did before or just click on the link “Upgrade automatically”.

I clicked on the automatic upgrade link which took me the page shown below where I was asked the ftp login details

Once I filled up the ftp information, just in seconds I got the following screen

Just took few seconds to complete the plugin upgrade process. Its really a good feature that has been added.

Bugs I just noticed

The author name is coming as DonaldBU. I checked the author name that I could select, there were only 3 names.

Maldivian Air Taxi or what we commonly call is MAT which is a sea-plane service company in the Maldives. I am a frequent flyer of this as I need to travel to different resorts in Maldives for my official work. There are two Sea-plane service providers in the Maldives and the second one being the Trans Maldivian Airways or commonly called TMA. Both are excellent service providers and they connect the Male’ International Airport and the remote islands which are very far from the Airport. I had posted an article on the information on Maldivian Air Taxi an year back, but now the quality of the services has changed, the operations and the facilities had improved tremendously with the increasing flow of Tourists in the Maldives.

This is at a resort in Maldives, where the MAT is waiting for the guests to board. I was one among them. The sea plane are the Dehavilland Twin Otters from Canada. The pilots are mostly from Canada and now there are lots of Maldivian Pilots who are well trained flyers

One & Only Kanuhura is in Lhaviyani Atoll which is about 40 minutes flight on a sea plane, Maldivian Air Taxi, MAT. Our check-in time was 06:30 hours and flight at 07:20 hours. I have got some pictures and videos of the resort for you.

One & Only Kanuhura, is an One & Only Resort in the Maldives. One & Only hotels has two resorts in Maldives, Reethirah and Kanuhura. I just returned from Kanuhura after an official trip. Kanuhura is one of the top resorts in Maldives and one of favourites. This was the first resort I visited in Maldives which was 4 years back. The occupancy rate was almost 100% and I have noticed that after tsunami almost all the resorts in Maldives have this rate of occupancy. The charges are bit high but worth it. If you are planning a vacation in the Maldives, you can think about this resort but you need to check if you the accommodation

Male’, the capital of Maldives is the place where I live. I have been working here for the past 5 years. The cost of living is bit high and recently the inflation rate has gone up. Prices of common items have shooted by like anything. Other most effected is the cost of accommodation. You can find lots of multistoried buildings coming up every day, yet for a 3 bed room apartment, you will need to pay around US$1500 per month and a deposit of 3 to 6 months rent. Still you will not get an accommodation when you want.

For me, my company takes care of my accommodation, but small companies make their employees to go for shared accommodation and 6 to 8 people live in a room. Its not just a problem for the expatriates working here, but even the locals who do not have an house in Male’ but is forced to live here due to a job or other reason, really suffers due to this accommodation problem

This is the Bank of Maldives Head Office. Whole Male’ will be totally different in next 2-3 years time, some what like a Mini-Singapore

This is not Male’ but an island which will be the future of Male’ its called Hulhumale‘ which is an artificial island connected to Hulhule, the airport island
