Best hair oil to keep your head cool

June 27, 2008

IMG_1197 I have been using Navarathna Oil from Himani for some years now. Earlier I was not using any oil before bathing. I used some hair creams like brylcream or Vaseline after bath. Navarathna Oil is an excellent cooler, soothes your eyes, give you a fresh feeling and cool head. As soon as you apply the oil, you will feel the ice cold effect on you head. Other thing what I have noticed is sound sleep. Use Navarathna Oil regularly, you will get some relief from tiredness, and if you use computer for long time, its ideal. I used to have some problems with my eyes after I sit long in front of the computer monitor, but now I spend more time but I do not have any problem.

Just apply to your head and face about 20-30 minutes before bath regularly, you will really notice the difference and the power of Navarathna Oil

A video of the place I live

One of the biggest problem for the people who live in Male’ the Capital of Maldives is proper accommodation. The population of Male’ is very high and the space available is very small. The accommodation cost is very high like for 1 bed room good fully furnished accommodation we need to pay around US$ 800 and for three bed room apartment may be around US$ 2000.00. Most the apartments are fully furnished and handed over in good condition.

Cooking Tips for Bachelors

June 7, 2008

I live alone here in Maldives and I cook my food. I do not spend much time in cooking as I do not have enough time to spend. I have my own way of managing my food and make sure that I eat all my meals.

I need only one curry and usually for breakfast, I have bread or I had got some Avloose from my mother, which is a dish from Kerala. Avloose is actually rice powder, fried well and can be kept for many days. I get some banana and mix it with Avloose and its really good for breakfast. Or I go for bread, brown bread preferably and steam it so that it become very soft and I like the taste. Other things if I am really very busy, I go for corn flakes or oats with milk and some fruit juice.

Before I leave for my office, I cook the rice using a rice cooker, just takes about 10 minutes and I will have at least one curry ready in the fridge. I cook some curry in bit large quantity so that I can use it for 2-3 lunch. As soon as I finish cooking and the curry is to room temperature, before using it, I transfer it into different plastic boxes, which can be used in in microwave oven to heat. Before starting my lunch, I just take one box of these curry and warm it up in a Microwave Oven and have my lunch. I always have some fresh vegetables in the fridge for salad and curd is something which I cannot miss even for a single lunch. Other easy way is to steam some vegetables when I cook the rice in the rice cooker and just add some pepper power and salt, its again good for a side dish with the lunch.

Whenever I go to India, I get some home made pickles and some chatni powders, which can be used along with lunch.

Here is a small recipe which I try often, no name but its easy and works well

Cut some onion, potato, chillies, garlic, ginger

First cook the onion, ginger, chilly, add some salt, turmeric powder and later corriander powder and chilly powder

Add potatoes and tomato

Once the potato is cooked, add some coconut milk and boil well. That’s it , you are done. Its good with rice and even bread. if you make chappaties, it will work with that too.

Medical Tourism in Maldives

April 12, 2008

Maldives is a tourist country and there are millions of tourists arriving in Maldives every year. There are about 90 high class resorts in Maldives but when we look into Medical Tourism, its equivalent to NO.

Reason for not promoting Medical Tourism in Maldives is the lack of Health facility and the cost of Health facility is very high. There are some Government Hospitals in different Atolls in Maldives. The biggest hospital is Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital or IGMH and the only private Hospital is ADK Hospital. Tourists use these facilities in case of emergencies and not as a Medical Tourism Concept. There are few private clinics like AMDC which provide service as a Day clinic.

Most of the locals go abroad for advanced medical treatment as the facilities are limited here.

Next Trip to India

October 16, 2007

Unexpectedly I will be traveling on November 8th to India. My father has some health problems and need to undergo Angiography and may be an Angioplasty at Sri Chitra Institute Trivandrum on 10th Nov, 2007

What is Angiography?

Angiography or arteriography is a medical imaging technique in which an X-ray picture is taken to visualize the inner opening of blood filled structures, including arteries, veins and the heart chambers. Its name comes from the Greek words angeion, “vessel”, and graphien, “to write or record”. The X-ray film or image of the blood vessels is called an angiograph, or more commonly, an angiogram.

What is Angioplasty?

Angioplasty is the mechanical widening of a narrowed or totally-obstructed blood vessel. These obstructions are often caused by atherosclerosis.

We really go into depth only when a situation arise. I have heard these terms very much and now a days its very common. In lay man’s language as far as I now understand is Angiography is a diagnostic procedure to find out the blocks a in the heart and Angioplasty is a procedure to clear the block and its not a open heart surgery.
