Different ways to become famous

June 26, 2008

I was just thinking an easy way to become popular or famous. Suddenly Meenakshi Madhavan , the compulsive confessor came in my mind. Meenakshi became famous, was invited by NDTV for a chat and millions of viewers came to know about her and she is so famous in a very short span of time. I first read about her in a Malayalam magazine called Vanitha.

When I look into my blog statistics, I find lots of searches for Meenakshi Madhavan coming to my previous blog post. Lots of Internet users are interested in knowing about her. Doing great things can make you famous, need not be good thing or things which are useful for the society. Santhosh Madhavan has become famous by taking porno movies doing illegal activities. If you try googling Santhosh Madhavan, you will get hundreds of pages, videos and images. I had been writing pages about Great Indian Legends and when I look into the things that they have done and the time that made them famous are much more than people like Meenakshi or Santhosh Madhavan.

Meenakshi had been writing her personal dairy online for her readers, keeping it public and making it more interesting by reading her readers minds. The incidents which she has written may not be true (her sex life / boy friends , blah blah) but could her fantasies. I feel she is a great writer and she knows how to present things well.

To become a legend, you do things for the country or create history, but to become famous, you just need to do extra ordinary things which can be hot news for a while and time will forget such famous people.

Power of Blogging

June 11, 2008

Have you ever thought about the power that your blog has? Blog is a tool which can convey your thoughts to millions of Internet users. You can create a post and in minutes this is online and your visitors can get your message. Its not just like sending emails to your friends, but its a tool to send message to people who even you don’t know and people who are interested to know about the topic you have written.

News papers days are gone now, you do not need to be a qualified journalist, you can take your camera and shoot some video’s ,compress it and upload to a video hosting site like Youtube, Revver and many more, it goes live instantly. There is no restriction to express your thought.

You find a new information, which you want to share with others who are interested in that particular topic, just post it on your blog. There are lots of social networking sites, like digg, stumbleupon, sphinn, eref, and many more, just post it there and you will find tons of people into your blog.

Once your post is published, search engine spiders crawls your server and indexes the page for relevant searches. When a person Googling for relevant keyword on search engines like Google, Yahoo, the post get listed.

Power of blogging is unlimited, you can create a good social network, create new friends, grow your business, sell your products, earn money and more. Some people blog as a hobby and some are professional bloggers like Darren Rowse, John Chow and many. Darren’s blog, Problogger has subscribers around 48K when I checked last. Can you image, when he does a post, its read by 48K feed readers, has traffic in Millions, the message is spread like fire. When you go through Problogger’s post, you will find that every post in his blog has a good number of commentators. There are real people expressing their views and everything is automated. There is no need to send a post letter to the News paper editor, finally he approves and it’s published in the next issue. This was the past and now no body has time to wait. If you post something online, its really online in seconds. You are the publisher, editor and the first reader of your blog and you have the power to control it.

You do not need to be a programmer to create html pages or write script these days. Just need open source tools like Wordpress or Joomla, or Drupal. You just need to type in the post, insert, images, videos, audio, and click on the publish button and its live. I use Windows Live  Writer to update and post new pages on my blogs.

Earning through blogging is another power of a blog. There are lots of bloggers who are full time bloggers and earn from US$ 10K to 40K every month.

I am just trying to explain the power and potential of a blog . Every blog has its own power and potential and needs to used in the right way as there are very less control on a blog or a blogger.

compulsive-confessor

There are many blogs with compulsive confession and something rocking the news media these days is about Meenakshi’s compulsive confession blog. Who is this compulsive confessor?
Her about page of the blog says

Okay, here goes: twenty-something, single, female, writer, with large groups of friends and who goes out for drinks pretty regularly. That’s my life and that’s what I write about. Okay? Okay.

There was a post at the Telegraph news website with some more information

She writes everything about her including sex and dating on this blog and there are tons of visitors and friends. This blog was started in 2004 and updated even on this day.

In breezy postings, the 25-year-old girl-about-town – India’s answer to Bridget Jones – told thousands of readers of her partying, smoking and binge drinking, along with candid musings about sexual techniques and escapades. Meenakshi Reddy Madhavan writes her Sex and the City-style blog under the pseudonym “EM”, aware that although her material would not seem outrageous to a British audience, in India sex remains a taboo and anti-obscenity laws are strict.

Latest Trick of comment spam

April 12, 2008

Today I read a post at Darren’s Blog, Problogger mentioning someone commenting using his name. This is a good trick using the name of popular bloggers. Spam comments are the biggest problem for blogger and its very important that you keep your blog clean from such comments. I get tons of spam comments and thanks to akismet for filtering out 95% of such comments. There are lots of other tools available for wordpress to filter and stop these spam comments. Make sure that you use a good tool and always keep your tool updated with the latest version.
